Convolution and filters · MAAI7602 Applied Computer Vision
A convolution slides a small grid of weights, the filter, over an image and computes a weighted sum at every position. The results form a feature map. CNNs learn the filter weights from data. How does a convolutional filter respond to a pattern such as an edge, and how are filter weights learned?
